Ange Postecoglou confirmed Rodrigo Bentancur is back home after the Tottenham midfielder was stretchered off during their midweek win over Liverpool.

Bentancur fell to the ground unchallenged just six minutes into the EFL Cup semi-final first leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Uruguay international was treated for around nine minutes, before he was transferred to hospital for further assessment.

Postecoglou says Bentancur will now be absent for a couple of weeks while he observes concussion protocol, including this weekend's FA Cup tie against non-league Tamworth.

"Thankfully, it looks like a concussion and nothing more than that," the Spurs boss told reporters during his pre-match press conference.

"Good news. He was in hospital and did all the tests to make sure everything is okay. All good. He's back home and he's fine. He is feeling good.

"Obviously, you follow the protocols now, and it's a couple of weeks where you have to make sure everything is okay."
